Official summoned over delay in project
March 7th, 2012 - 9:34 pm ICT by IANSShimla, March 7 (IANS) Taking note of tardy progress in a Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) project here, the Himachal Pradesh High Court Wednesday summoned the state Public Works Department (PWD) superintending engineer.
Passing the order on a petition, a division bench comprising Chief Justice Kurian Joseph and Justice D.C. Chaudhary asked the superintending engineer to report to the court whether the Auckland tunnel would be made operational by March 31.
The bench also directed the official to be present in court March 28.
The Auckland tunnel, being constructed by the PWD here at a cost of Rs.10.09 crore, is expected to help ease traffic congestion in the city.
