The body, found near Khudalia village, also bore a bullet injury on the stomach. The victim’s legs and one hand had been chopped, a police officer said.
The girl, who was missing from her home since Tuesday night, is suspected to have been raped before her death, the family alleged. But police did not conduct any post-mortem.
Superintendent of Police (Rural) Ajay Kumar said: “The station officer of Simbhaoli police station is accountable for the lapse. He should have conducted the post-mortem but he did not.”
