New Delhi, June 11 (IANS) Nuclear power is crucial to India’s energy security, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said here Wednesday. “In my view, nuclear power appears to offer India the most potent means to realise its long-term energy security,” he said.

He was speaking at a function to release the book “Ultimate Price: Oil and Saddam’s Iraq” by R.S. Kalha, a former Indian diplomat.

Mukherjee’s comments came on a day Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said India will have to move forward with its nuclear deal with the US to break the “nuclear apartheid”.
