Now, get electoral details via SMS!
October 16th, 2008 - 10:33 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 16 (IANS) Very soon, voters in the national capital would be able to access their electoral details by just sending an SMS, an aide to the state’s chief electoral officer said here Thursday.Voters would be able to receive all polling details like name, age, address, name and number of assembly constituency and polling booth information by sending their Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) number via SMS.
“At least three companies have approached the Delhi’s chief electoral officer for this system till now,” an official told IANS.
One of the companies who have approached the electoral office is Rajasthan Electronics and Instrument Limited (REIL).
“It also made a presentation before the officials of the chief electoral office-Delhi Thursday. RIEL is running a similar project in Rajsthan,” the official added.
“The final decision has not yet been taken and it may be a couple of weeks before it (service) comes into place,” the official further said.
The service would be available free of cost.
