Dharamsala, Sep 13 (IANS) The exiled spiritual head of Tibetan community, the Dalai Lama, has cancelled his visit to Europe next month on the advice of his doctors, his aide said here Saturday.”Doctors have advised him (the Dalai Lama) to curtail his travel schedule for the time being. They have asked him to take good rest before resuming his schedule,” Thubten Samphel, a spokesperson for the Tibetan government-in-exile, told IANS.

Earlier, the Dalai Lama had cancelled two trips to Mexico and Dominican Republic after complaining of fatigue.

“His cancellation of travel schedules has nothing to do with his ill health,” Samphel clarified.

The 73-year-old Dalai Lama had reached his official palace here Sep 9 from Delhi, where he spent a few days after undergoing a series of medical tests at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital and Research Centre.

The Nobel laureate has lived in India since fleeing his homeland in 1959 after a failed uprising against Chinese occupation. His government-in-exile is not recognised by any country.

There are over 100,000 Tibetan refugees living in India.
