Notorious criminal arrested in Delhi
May 26th, 2010 - 11:05 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, May 26 (IANS) A man wanted in over a dozen cases of murder, robbery and burglary was arrested in the national capital, police said Wednesday.
“We received a tip-off Sunday that Ankit, 24, would come to meet his girlfriend near Old Fort area. Accordingly a trap was laid and Ankit was apprehended,” a police official said.
According to police, Ankit was involved in 13 cases of murder, robbery, snatching and burglary in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).
During interrogation, Ankit confessed to his involvement in a double murder recently.
“On March 19 night, he and his gang members murdered a driver and cleaner of a truck in Ghaziabad and stole goods worth more than Rs.15 lakh,” the officer said.
The official said Ankit was a member of Amit Jat gang operating in the capital and its suburbs.
