New Delhi, Sep 3 (IANS) The Delhi High Court has issued notice to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Delhi government on a student’s plea for a direction to correct his father’s name on examination certificates, which was not done despite several attempts.

The notice was issued Friday by Justice Kailash Gambhir to the CBSE, the Delhi government and the government-run Boys Senior Secondary School in north Delhi, seeking their response by Sep 13.

The court was hearing a petition filed by the student, Mukesh Kumar, through his lawyer Ashok Agarwal.

According to the petition, Mukesh was admitted to Class 6 of the Boys Senior Seceondary School of Karala area April 24, 2000.

“At the time of admission, as per the school records, his father?s name was correctly registered in the school records as Ram Pratap,? said the petition.

Mukesh appeared for Class 10 boards in 2007. While filling up the form, the father?s name was correctly written as Ram Pratap but however, when he received his certificate his father?s name was wrongly mentioned as `Rana Pratap?.

The board repeated the same mistake while issuing Class 12 certificate. Aggrieved by the continuous error and in order to get it rectified, the petitioner made a written request to the school’s principal in 2009.

The school directed him to go to the CBSE, where he was again sent back to school.

“Till date, the board has not rectified the petitioner father`s name,? said Agarwal, saying on one occasion a board official had even threatened Mukesh.

?One of the board officials said, ‘Tu nikal jaa yahan se, tera kuch nahin hoga, aur tujhe jo karna hai woh kar le (You get out from here, nothing can be done in your case, do whatever you want to do),? said the petition, adding that they also sent legal notice but got no reply from the CBSE, forcing them to move the high court.
