North Gujarat to have medical college soon
November 24th, 2008 - 9:27 pm ICT by IANSAhmedabad, Nov 24 (IANS) The north Gujarat will soon have its first medical college in Patan.The state government last week cleared the appointment of M.M. Prabhakar, director (paraplegia) of the Civil Hospital here, and Sunil Awasiya, deputy director (medical services), with Patan’s Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University (HNGU) to raise the required infrastructural facilities.
HNGU vice-chancellor K.K. Shah said: “Their experience will help accelerate the process in setting up the much-awaited medical college at Patan, which is first in north Gujarat and seventh government-run medical college in the state.”
For developing the college campus, 60 acres of land have been acquired near Dharpur village, about seven km from Patan and 130 km from here, he said.
