No threat to government stability: Congress
April 26th, 2011 - 8:01 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, April 26 (IANS) The Congress Tuesday said there was “absolutely no threat” to the UPA government, a day ahead of a DMK leadership meeting after the CBI named party MP Kanimozhi in the 2G spectrum case.
“The UPA (United Progressive Alliance) has already successfully completed seven years in two governments. There is no problem to the stability of the government,” Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari told reporters here.
He was answering questions whether there was a likelihood of withdrawal of support by the DMK, which has 18 Lok Sabha MPs, to the UPA government.
“If anyone lives in the ivory towers imagining the government will become instable, it is better for them to come down to the realities,” Tewari said.
Asked if the DMK was upset over the naming of Kanimozhi, daughter of DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, in the supplementary charge-sheet, Tewari said the Congress had nothing to do with the case.
“It is a case fully monitored by the Supreme Court,” Tewari said.
The DMK has called a meeting of its leaders Wednesday to discuss the Kanimozhi saga.
