- Mumbai Oct 30 (IANS) The Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will not conduct any inquiry into an incident in which two aircraft were opposite each other on the same taxiway here late Thursday night, though at a considerable distance from each other, an official said Friday.
“The incident was very minor and the two aircraft were at a very slow speed. If they had proceeded in their respective directions, there could have been a problem,” the official said.
The incident happened shortly before midnight Thursday when a Kingfisher Airlines Mumbai-Delhi flight IT-315 with 117 passengers was proceeding on the taxiway. At that time an Air India Nagpur-Mumbai flight with 127 passengers had also landed and was coming on the same taxiway in the opposite direction, though at a significant distance, at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport.
The airport official said that there was never any cause for concern in the matter.
A spokesperson for Kingfisher Airlines said that its aircraft had followed the instructions given by the air traffic control and the aircraft did not find itself in any head-to-head positon with any other aircraft at that time.
