No LTTE camp in Tamil Nadu, say police
March 10th, 2011 - 11:02 pm ICT by IANSChennai, March 10 (IANS) The Tamil Nadu Police chief Thursday strongly denied the Sri Lankan government’s charge that Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) are holding training camps in the state.
In a statement issued here, Tamil Nadu’s Director General of Police (DGP) Letika Saran said reports of LTTE camps in the state were baseless.
She was reacting to the statement made in the Sri Lankan parliament by the country’s Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne Wednesday that there are three LTTE training camps in Tamil Nadu.
According to Saran, the state police is keeping a constant watch on the coastal areas of the state.
She also said the attack on Mahabodhi Society, a Buddhist centre here, in January this year was carried out by sympathisers of Lankan Tamils and not by LTTE.
