No change in Hillary Clinton’s India visit: US envoy
July 14th, 2011 - 2:32 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 14 (IANS) US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s visit to India will take place as scheduled next week and has not been affected by the blasts in Mumbai, the US envoy here said Thursday.
The visit of the secretary of state will take place as scheduled, US’s acting ambassador A. Peter Burleigh told reporters here when asked whether the serial blasts Wednesday evening in Mumbai have affected Clinton’s itinerary.
Clinton will come here Monday on a three-day visit, during which India and the US will hold their second strategic dialogue at the level of foreign ministers.
Burleigh, the US charge d’affaires, strongly condemned the Mumbai attack and stressed that the US will stand “shoulder to shoulder” with India in combating terrorism.
On Wednesday evening, at least 17 people were killed and 131 injured as three blasts tore through Mumbai — at Dadar in central Mumbai, and Zaveri Bazaar and Opera House in south Mumbai — making it the worst terror attack since the 26/11 savagery.
