December 20th, 2010 - 3:31 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Dec 20 (IANS) Police have not been able to achieve a breakthrough in the murder of a retired teacher in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area, with the victim’s former tenants being the prime suspects, an official said.Devendra Kishore Joshi, the retired Sanskrit teacher, was found killed at his home in south Delhi Sunday. He was hit on his head and later stabbed on his neck by a scissor. The rear door of the house was found ajar and valuables were missing.
“The investigations are on and it will take time before a solid conclusion can be reached,” the police official said.
“The murder may have taken place on Saturday.”
“Some youths who lived with Joshi for a few months as paying guests may have committed the crime. Prima facie, a friendly entry is evident. They are under suspicion,” a police official said.
The youths lived on the first floor of Joshi’s duplex, but were asked to leave when the elderly man had some problems with the tenants.
Joshi shifted to his Vasant Kunj home seven years ago. He was living alone as his wife died in 2008. His son is working as an engineer in New Jersey, US.
