February 1st, 2011 - 11:54 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Feb 1 (IANS) The Delhi Police is yet to make any arrest in connection with the case of sexual abuse of a minor boy by a doctor in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). The three-member committee set up to look into the matter will submit its report Wednesday. Till late Tuesday, the three-member committee set up by the AIIMS authority to look into the allegation, had not submitted the report to the police. “They are to submit it tomorrow (Wednesday),” said a source in AIIMS.
Earlier in the day, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) had been asked to enquire into sexual abuse allegations by an eight-year-old boy against a junior resident doctor of AIIMS.
“The NCPCR will do an enquiry into the child abuse case and will submit a report,” Women and Child Development Minister Krishna Tirath told reporters.
Police had Monday registered a case accusing the junior resident doctor of AIIMS of molesting the boy who had come to the hospital for treatment. The victim, a resident of northeast Delhi, was admitted to the neurosurgery ward for a brain tumour operation Jan 18.
He underwent surgery Jan 20 and was scheduled to be discharged four days later. But on Jan 24, the father submitted a complaint that his son had been sodomised by the doctor on Jan 23.
The complaint said that the doctor took the child to the duty room and abused him sexually.
Upon receiving the formal complaint, AIIMS constituted a three-member committee to look into the allegation.
