Nine of family killed in Haryana accident (Lead)
January 23rd, 2012 - 4:34 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, Jan 23 (IANS) At least nine members of a family, including five children and two women, were killed when their car collided with a truck in Haryana’s Fatehabad district Monday morning.
The accident took place near Gilla Khera village, about 300 km from Chandigarh.
The victims were travelling in a Hyundai Verna car. Police said most of the victims died on the spot, due to head injuries. All the children were between ages two-and-half years and nine years.
The victims, who belonged to a family of Fatehabad town, were returning home from the Dera Sacha Sauda sect headquarters in Sirsa district when the accident took place.
Police officials said the truck driver fled from the spot after the accident and a manhunt had been launched to arrest him.
