Nine killed in Iraq car bombingOctober 23rd, 2008 - 2:43 pm ICT by IANS
Baghdad, Oct 23 (Xinhua) Nine people were killed and 10 injured when a suicide bomber blew up his explosives-laden car in a convoy of government vehicles Thursday morning, an interior ministry source said. “A suicide bomber rammed his explosives-laden car into the convoy of Mahmoud Jawad al-Radhi, minister of labour, in the Bab al-Sharji area in central Baghdad, killing nine people,” the source said on condition of anonymity.
Radhi, a Shia, was not travelling in the convoy when the attack occurred, the source said.
Some of the minister’s bodyguards and policemen were among the killed, he said.
Deadly attacks continue in Iraq despite the US and Iraqi officials announcing a relative lull in violence during the past months.
