Nine killed as police bus hits jeep in Jharkhand
June 2nd, 2010 - 7:27 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, June 2 (IANS) Nine people, including three children, were killed and eight injured when a police bus hit a jeep in Jharkhand’s Bokaro district Wednesday, police said.
“Nine people died in the accident. The injured have been admitted to a local hospital,” a police official from Bokaro district told IANS.
The accident took place near Bokaro district’s Kamlapur village, some 130 km from Ranchi, when the jeep was hit by the police bus coming from the opposite direction.
After the collision, the jeep skidded off the road and fell into a roadside ditch, police said.
Seven people died on the spot and two died in hospital. The condition of four injured is critical, police said.
According to police, the jeep carrying 18 people was going to Rajrappa village of Ramgarh district from Saranari village in Bokaro district.
