Nine get life for triple murder
July 1st, 2011 - 11:13 pm ICT by IANSVaranasi, July 1 (IANS) A court here Friday sentenced nine people to life imprisonment for a triple murder in 1998, police said.
The court of a special judge (Gangster Act) sentenced brothers Shiv Prakash Singh and Sushil Singh and their associates after convicting them for killing three people over a land dispute in Ballualakhraon village under the Cholapur station.
According to police, Shiv Prakash Singh and Sushil Singh and others had opened fire in the village Jan 13, 1998, killing Rakesh Patel, Kesari Pandey and Amarnath.
A total of 11 people were booked for the killings.
Of the 11, two were minors at the time of the incident and the court Friday referred their case to a juvenile court for deciding quantum of punishment, a police officer said.
