Nigerian punished for drug peddling
June 29th, 2011 - 12:08 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, June 28 (IANS) A Delhi court has sentenced a Nigerian to a 63-month jail term that he has already undergone during the trial, in a drug peddling case.
Special Judge M.K. Nagpal sentenced Sylva Osisioma, holding him guilty under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and fined him Rs.50,000.
“I sentence the convict to the period of imprisonment already undergone by him and also to direct him to pay a fine of Rs.50,000,” the court said.
The accused was caught with five kg of heroin near his rented accommodation at Bhai Parmanand Colony in north Delhi in March 2006, by a team of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence.
