Nigerian held with six kg heroin
April 9th, 2011 - 8:06 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, April 9 (IANS) A Nigerian was arrested here and six kg of heroin valued at Rs.6 crore in the international market was seized from him, police said Saturday.
Simon O. Umukoro, 33, of Abuja in Nigeria was held from Pitampura area Friday, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Ashok Chand.
Umukoro told police that he came to India in March 2008 on a one-month visa to purchase synthetic hair.
But he lived on in India till January 2009 when he went to Kathmandu. He returned to India in January 2010 and started living with another Nigerian in Delhi.
Umukoro said the heroin was given to him by a Nigerian and he was supposed to deliver it to a contact when he was arrested.
