Nigerian foreign minister coming on four-day visit

New Delhi, March 14 (IANS) Nigerian Foreign Minister Odein Ajumogobia arrives in India Tuesday on a four-day visit, during which he will discuss ways to improve economic linkages, as well as important regional issues.

Ajumogobia will co-chair the fifth meeting of the India-Nigeria Joint Commission Wednesday. The Indian delegation to the meeting will be led by External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna.

The joint commission will review the status of bilateral ties between the two countries, as well as propose ways of strengthening economic ties.

Besides, the two ministers will discuss matters related to regional and global importance. The situation in Libya is expected to figure during the talks.

Nigeria is India’s largest trading partner in Africa, as well as the biggest market for Indian goods in Africa. The bilateral trade for 2011-12 is expected to be around $12 billion.

The Nigerian minister will also meet Indian Commerce Minister Anand Sharma and Petroleum Minister S. Jaipal Reddy.
