Nigerian arrested with 2.5 kg heroin
April 29th, 2010 - 7:01 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Panipat (Haryana), April 29 (IANS) A 26-year-old Nigerian man was arrested in this Haryana town and over 2.5 kg heroin seized from him, police said Thursday.
The Nigerian, identified as Odian Jewel, was travelling to Delhi from Chandigarh.
“Jewel came down to buy a bottle of drinking water at Panipat bus stand. During our regular search there, we found that he had heroin packets tied on his legs,” local police official Naresh Ahlawat told IANS.
Jewel, who had 2.590 kg heroin on him, has been booked under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Foreigners’ Act.
He was brought before a local court, which sent him to three days’ police custody.
