New Tibetan PM to assume office Aug 8
July 25th, 2011 - 9:01 pm ICT by IANSDharamsala, July 25 (IANS) Prime minister-elect of the Tibetan government-in-exile Lobsang Sangay will assume office Aug 8, an official statement said here Monday.
The swearing-in ceremony of the new Kalon Tripa or prime minister-in-exile, will be held at the central courtyard of the Tsuglagkhang, opposite the office of the Dalai Lama, Aug 8, a Central Tibetan Administration statement said. On the same day, he would assume office.
The Dalai Lama will address the function.
The new Kalon Tripa at 42 is the youngest to head the government-in-exile.
He was chosen in the third direct elections for the Kalon Tripa held March 20. He succeeds the incumbent, Samdhong Rinpoche.
