Nepali woman nabbed with drugs in Uttar Pradesh
November 29th, 2010 - 12:32 pm ICT by IANSLucknow, Nov 29 (IANS) A Nepali woman was arrested with cannabis worth around Rs.20 lakh in Uttar Pradesh’s Maharajganj district, police said Monday.
Vimla Gharti, aged around 38 years, was nabbed late Sunday from Sanuali town, near the Indo-Nepal border, following a joint operation by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and the district police.
“Preliminary investigations indicate she worked for a Nepal-based racket involved in supplying illegal drugs. The woman was assigned with the task of supplying the drug in various parts of the state,” police inspector R.B. Sharma told reporters Monday in Maharajganj, some 300 km from Lucknow.
“The woman is a native of Kapilvastu district and had been in this trade for the last seven years,” he added.
