New Delhi, Aug 17 (IANS) Nepal’s Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal will arrive here Tuesday for a five-day visit - his first trip to India after becoming premier.
Nepal is expected to hold talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He will also meet President Pratibha Patil, External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna and Leader of Opposition L.K. Advani.
Nepal took over office May 25 after his predecessor, Maoist leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda resigned following a controversy over dismissal of the Nepal Army chief.
The new prime minister’s visit was preceded by that of Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala last week.
In bilateral discussions held during that visit, both countries took up the revision of the 1950 India-Nepal Friendship Treaty, with India keen on signing a new extradition treaty.
Besides continuing talks in those areas, it is expected that India and Nepal will also discuss other issues, like border managements, trade and investment and hydro-electric projects.
