Neelmani to take over as Bihar’s top cop
February 25th, 2010 - 7:33 pm ICT by IANSPatna, Feb 25 (IANS) Neelmani will take over as Bihar’s Director General of Police (DGP) at the end of the month, officials said Thursday.
Neelmani, a 1975 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, would replace incumbent Anand Shankar who is due to retire Feb 28.
According to official sources in the chief minister’s office, the state government will issue a formal notification in this connection Thursday night.
“Neelmani will join as DGP Feb 28,” official sources said.
At present, Neelmani is the director general cum commandant general of home guards and fire services.
The state government has superseded two senior police officials Manoj Nath, a 1973 batch IPS officer and J.K. Khanna, a 1974 batch IPS officer by promoting Neelmani to the post.
