Nearly 100,000 pirated DVDs, CDs seized in Punjab
November 20th, 2009 - 12:56 am ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Jalandhar, Nov 19 (IANS) The Punjab police Thursday recovered nearly 100,000 pirated DVDs and compact discs (CDs) from a building in this Punjab city.
The recovery was made following a raid at a building in Kartar Nagar area of Jalandhar, 150 km from Chandigarh, after a tip off.
The pirated DVDs and CDs had been prepared by two people, one of whom was arrested by police, following the raid.
The police also recovered DVD and CD writers from the premises.
“We are investigating the matter. More recoveries are likely to be made,” a police official said.
The music and film industry has been seeking action against the multi-million piracy industry which is affecting their business.
