National Conference activist killed in Kashmir
March 31st, 2011 - 11:56 am ICT by IANSSrinagar, March 31 (IANS) Suspected separatist guerrillas have killed a prominent ruling National Conference (NC) activist in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, police said Thursday.
“Gunmen barged into the house of Gulam Mohiuddin Bhat in Pinglish village late last (Wednesday) evening, firing at him and his wife Haseena from close range,” a police official said.
While Bhat, block president of NC, died on the spot, his wife was critically injured in the shootout. “She was later shifted to Srinagar for specialised treatment,” the official said.
Pulwama district is 44 km from the Jammu and Kashmir summer capital.
