NASA Ares I-X rocket Cape Canaveral, Oct 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) After being postponed so many times, NASA was finally able to successfully launch its Ares I-X rocket. It had been postponed today on Wednesday, itself some hours earlier due to the weather concerns. The original scheduled launch of the Ares I-X flight test was on Tuesday, but it was also canceled. The next launch was decided to be made on Wednesday, as there was a four-hour launch window that opened at 8 a.m. EDT.

The 327-foot rocket, which NASA thinks is the world’s largest took off at 11:30 a.m. ET, 30 minutes before a noon deadline for the launch. There was a four-hour window in which the rocket could be launched and it barely made it. About two minutes after liftoff, the first-stage, reusable rocket booster fell into the Atlantic ocean, where it was to be picked up by a ship.

NASA spokesman George Diller, who was moderating the launch preparations for broadcasters, communicated the frustration as launches were repeatedly getting postponed, due to the bad weather elements, with just minutes to go.

“I can’t tell you how proud I am of all of you,” Ed Mango, Ares I-X launch director, told engineers and others inside the center after the launch. “That was just one of the most beautiful rocket launches I’ve ever seen.” “It shows what we can do when we have a common goal.”
