Narain just unlucky to be in one of the slowest cars: Button
October 28th, 2011 - 12:08 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 27 (IANS) Vodafone McLaren-Mercedes’ Jenson Button said Thursday that India’s Narain Karthikeyan is extremely talented but is simply unlucky to be in one of the slowest cars in Formula One.
“We have raced together in Formula 3 and I found that Narain is extremely skilled. We raced once at the Brands Hatch and he was quick, no one could touch him. I think he is just unlucky to be in one of the slowest cars in Formula One,” Button said.
Karthikeyan was the first Indian driver in Formula One and made his debut with Jordan in 2005. He returned to Formula One again this year giving up his permanent seat in Nascar after he was assured by his team Hispania that he would race in the inaugural race in India.
Button’s team mate and compatriot Lewis Hamilton said that Indian drivers are talented but are unlucky not to have the best infrastructure.
“I am certain that there are some talented drivers in India. But they are not getting proper infrastructure. There aren’t good karting tracks in India like Europe. So it would be good for aspiring Indian drivers if they can shift to Europe for a career in Formula One,” said the World Champion.
