Nam shuts out Murugesan in tennis meet

Chennai, July 26 (IANS) Hyun-Woo Nam of Korea outplayed top seed Ranjeet Virali-Murugesan 6-3, 6-1 to enter the semi-finals of the Indian Oil Servo ITF Futures Men’s tennis tournament here Thursday.

Displaying fluid movements and fluent strokes, Nam dominated the proceedings throughout the match. Ranked 776 in the world, Nam is recreating his tennis career after a long break.

He next plays fourth seeded compatriot Suk-Young Jeong who overcame Taipei’s Chief-Fu Wang 6-2, 7-6(7) while second seeded Sanketh Myneni defeated N Vijay Sundar Prashanth 6-1, 7-5 to set up a clash with Karunuday Singh who knocked out third seed Antoine Escoffier of France 7-6 (4), 6-2.
