Nagori sent to to nine-day police remand

Ahmedabad, Aug 25 (IANS) Safdar Nagori, former chief of the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) brought here from Madhya Pradesh for his suspected role in the Aug 26 serial bombings, was sent to nine-day police remand.Nagori, arrested by the Madhya Pradesh Police in March this year, was Sunday night brought here from Rewa jail on a transfer warrant.

Four of his associates from Madhya Pradesh, his brother Kamruddin Nagori, Aamil Pervez, Asif Hussain and Abdul Sibli, are already in police remand till Sep 3.

The Crime branch of the Ahmedabad police suspects Nagori played a key role in the Ahmedabad serial blasts, which claimed 57 lives, and the planting of 20-odd bombs recovered from Surat subsequently.
