Myanmarese refugee held for raping niece
June 9th, 2011 - 1:01 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, June 8 (IANS) A Myanmarese refugee was arrested for raping his 28-year-old niece here, police said Wednesday.
Ral Kap Thanga, 32, was arrested from Vikaspuri area of west Delhi Tuesday, a senior police officer said.
“They have been living in India as refugees. The victim told us that she was living with her mother next door to Thanga, who is her maternal uncle.
“Thanga, on finding her alone on the night of May 30, barged inside her house and raped her. He also threatened her of dire consequences if she told anyone,” the officer said.
The terrified woman finally summoned courage and told her mother about the incident Tuesday, after which she approached the police.
