Muslims in Kerala celebrate Eid
August 31st, 2011 - 1:26 pm ICT by IANSThiruvananthapuram, Aug 31 (IANS) Muslims across Kerala celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr Wednesday with prayers and gaiety, the festivities most pronounced in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasargode districts.
Muslims account for 24 percent of the state’s 32 million people.
In Thiruvananthapuram, Muslims thronged the Idgah and other grounds. Malayalam superstar Mammootty offered the prayers in Kochi. At Kozhikode, morning showers played spoilsport.
