Murder convict out on bail shot dead in Haryana

Hissar (Haryana), June 14 (IANS) A former village headman, a murder convict out on bail, was Saturday shot dead near this Haryana town. Ishwar Singh, a former sarpanch of Matarsami village in this district, was shot dead by unidentified assailants on the Hissar-Adampur road, district police officials said. He was fired upon from close range. He died on the spot.

Singh, a murder convict, had recently been allowed out of prison on bail by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

He had been convicted by a local court for murdering five members of his family, including his father, wife and two children and his brother eight years ago.

Police officials investigating the case said that the hand of a gang led by gangster Subhash Fauji was being suspected in Singh’s murder.
