New Delhi, June 18 (IANS) A man who killed a woman in south Delhi 12 years ago was arrested from Uttar Pradesh, police said Saturday.

Rakesh killed the woman along with his friends Om Prakash, Dilawar and Ravinder Kumar in Sangam Vihar July 27, 1999. He was arrested Friday from Bulandshahar in Uttar Pradesh, said a police officer.

While Om Prakash, Dilawar and Ravinder were arrested after the incident, Rakesh was on the run and evaded arrest, added the officer. All of them were vehicle thieves.

“During investigation, Rakesh said the woman insisted on marrying him and threatened to get all of them arrested if he refused,” said the police officer.

“In order to get rid of her, they strangled her in a forested area in Sangam Vihar,” added the officer.
