Mumbai terror attack makes headlines in Pakistan
July 14th, 2011 - 12:37 pm ICT by IANSIslamabad, July 14 (IANS) The string of massive blasts in India’s financial hub Mumbai was splashed across the Pakistani media Thursday.
Most Pakistani websites gave prominent display to the news of the massive explosions at three places in Mumbai.
On Wednesday evening, at least 17 people were killed and 131 injured in Mumbai as three blasts ripped through the city — at Dadar in central Mumbai and Zaveri Bazaar and Opera House in south Mumbai — making it the worst terror attack since the 26/11 savagery.
The Dawn headlined its front page story, “Terror revisits Mumbai”.
Dawn said that it was the eighth incident of bomb blasts in Mumbai since 2002. “The government blamed the Indian Mujahideen, which was set up by members of another banned outfit, the Students Islamic Movement of India, for these attacks,” the media report added.
Geo News headline screamed: “Triple ‘terrorist’ blasts kill at least 21 in Mumbai”.
It noted that the biggest blast occurred at the Opera House, “once housing operas and now an area selling diamond jewellery and a hub for diamond traders in the city”.
Daily Times had the terror attack as the lead story, headlined: “Terror strikes Mumbai again”. It also carried a story slamming the Mumbai blasts on its first page on Pakistan.
Pakistani websites also carried photographs along with the stories showing the mayhem.
