Lucknow, Nov 27 (IANS) A man wanted in connection with the July 2006 Mumbai train blasts and one of his aides was arrested in Uttar Pradesh Friday, police said.
Subhash Yadav, who has 19 criminal cases against him, was held early Friday near Dhalia bridge, police said. His aide, Manoj Singh, was held later in the day.

“We recovered two locally made pistols and some drugs from Yadav’s possession. He is a history sheeter and is wanted in 19 cases of murder, extortion and kidnapping,” B.P. Ashok, superintendent of police (West), said.

Singh, a native of Bihar, was arrested after police got a lead about him during Yadav’s interrogation.

“We are interrogating both of them to ascertain the motive of their visit to Lucknow,” he added.

There are 19 cases registered against Yadav in Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh and a case is registered in the Ghatkopar police station in Mumbai in connection with the Mumbai train blasts.

“A country made pistol and some live cartridges have been recovered from Singh’s possession and we have sent the information of his arrest to our counterparts in Bihar to ascertain his crime history,” inspector Hemant Rai of Thakurganj police station told IANS. Singh has no criminal record in Uttar Pradesh, he added.

“He (Yadav) is a native of Azamgarh and was involved in criminal activities in Mumbai for the past two decades. We suspect that he is a member of some underworld gang,” Ashok said.
