Muggy weekend for Delhi, no respite in sight (Lead)

New Delhi, July 24 (IANS) Despite light showers late Saturday, there was no respite from the hot and muggy conditions for Delhi residents Sunday. Monday is not expected to be any better.

While the maximum temperature Sunday was recorded at 35 degrees Celsius, a notch above average, the minimum temperature settled at 26.3 degrees Celsius, one notch below average.

“While no rainfall was recorded between 8.30 a.m. and 5.30 p.m, the humidity wavered between a high of 92 and low of 55 percent, ” said an India Meteorological Department official.

“The sky is expected to be partly cloudy on Monday and there is a possibility of lightning later in the day,” added the official.

The maximum and minimum temperature are expected to hover around 35 and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively.
