Muggy day in Delhi, Sunday likely to be wet day (Lead)
August 13th, 2011 - 9:09 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Aug 13 (IANS) It was a muggy day in Delhi Saturday with the temperatures above the season’s average and humidity at uncomfortably high levels. There could, however, be a respite with Met office forecasting showers for Sunday.
The maximum temperature reached 35.7 degrees Celsius, three notch above average, and the minimum was recorded at 25.4 degrees Celsius, a notch below average for this time of the season. The maximum humidity was at 93 percent.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Sunday could be a wet day, with cloudy skies and thundershowers in some parts of the city.
“The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 35 and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively,” added the IMD official.
Fridays’ maximum temperature settled at 30.1 degrees Celsius, three notches below average, while the minimum was 25.5 degrees, a notch above average.
The city has so far received a total of 297.3 mm of rainfall this monsoon, which is 25 percent below average, the IMD official added.
