Muggy day in Delhi, rains likely Thursday (Lead)
August 17th, 2011 - 8:10 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Aug 17 (IANS) It was a muggy Wednesday in Delhi even as parts of the city received rain in the morning. The Met office has forecast showers for Thursday.
“The city received 0.1 mm of rainfall from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. while major part of the city was dry,” an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 33.6 degrees Celsius, a notch above average, while the minimum was recorded a notch below average at 24.8 degrees.
The humidity levels wavered between a high of 95 and a low of 62 percent.
The Met office forecast cloudy skies and thundershowers in some parts of the city for Thursday.
“The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 34 and 25 degrees Celsius, respectively,” the IMD official said.
According to the Met office, the city has so far received a total of 347.9 mm of rainfall this monsoon — 18 percent below average.
