MP’s family caught for travelling without ticket

Lucknow, Oct 8 (IANS) An MP and two former parliamentarians, all from Bihar, were fined after their family members travelling with them in a Rajdhani Express were caught without tickets, a railway official said Wednesday.”R.K. Manjhi, the sitting parliamentarian from Gaya, and two former MPs R.S Ram and Ranjit Singh were fined as their family members accompanying them failed to furnish tickets during a surprise inspection,” assistant commercial manager A.K. Gupta told IANS by telephone.

The checking was carried out at the Kanpur central railway station at around 9.30 p.m. Tuesday.

“We recovered a total of Rs.14,920 as fine from Manjhi, Ram and Singh,” he added.

According to officials, the three politicians had heated arguments with the railway vigilance team that conducted the inspection.
