Motorsports: Vaidya, Joshua in lead

Chennai, June 13 (IANS) Manoj Vaidya (co-driver Uday Kumar) from Nashik, driving a Maruti Suzuki Gypsy, led Banglore’s Imran (co-driver Rashid) in a Maruti Esteem by 36 seconds after two Special Stages in the 2100 km Dakshin Dare Rally here on Monday.

The first two super stages comprised of two rounds inside the 11.35 km dirt track at Vayalur totaling 23 km. The cars moved to the MMRT track at Sriperumbudur for two rounds of the 12.37 km stage before proceeding to Kodaikanal for the night halt.

Vaidya clocked a total of one hour, two minutes, 45 seconds against Imran’s 01:03:21, well ahead of third placed Sunil Shetty (Darayash D.) in a Maruti Gypsy, who timed 01.08:37.

In the two-wheeler category, Pramod Joshua was in the lead, clocking 00.55.27 followed by another Bangalorean, Nataraj (00.56.16 hrs).

Four-Wheelers (Ultimate): Manoj Vaidya / Uday Kumar (01.02.45 hrs) 1; Imran / Rashid (01.03:21) 2; Sunil Shetty / Darayash D (01.08:37) 3.

Cars (Endurance - TSD format): Sanjay Takale / Rahul Sancheti (00.01 min) 1; Satish Gopalakrishnan / Savera D’Souza (00.03) 2; K Prasad / Mustafa (00.05).

Two-wheelers (Ultimate): Pramod Joshua (00.55.27) 1; Nataraj (00.56.16) 2; Sharath Kumar S (0:1.00:18) 3.
