New Delhi, Oct 15 (IANS) Four unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants shot at a 26-year-old man and his father and robbed them of Rs.400,000 and mobile recharge coupons worth Rs.125,000, police said Wednesday.Sandeep Goyal, who was carrying a bag containing cash and mobile recharge coupons, was riding a two-wheeler scooter to his house in Anand Vihar area late Tuesday, when he was accosted by four men on two motorcycles behind the Karkardoma district court.
Sandeep’s father Prem Chand and brother Deepak were travelling on a different scooter, a police official said.
All three are distributors of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) mobile recharge coupons and have a shop in Vishwas Nagar area.
Police said the motorbike assailants tried to snatch the bag kept in Sandeep’s scooter, but when he resisted, one of them shot at him with a 7.65 mm pistol, injuring the 26-year-old on his shoulder.
When Prem Chand tried to raise an alarm, the attacker fired at him. Luckily the bullet passed by him and he suffered just a minor injury on his shoulder, the official said.
The assailants left with Rs.400,000 and the mobile recharge coupons.
Sandeep was rushed to hospital where he was said to be out of danger. Prem Chand was discharged after primary treatment.
Police said they were on the lookout for the assailants and that raids were being conducted at various places.
