More trucks make it to Jammu, Kashmir Valley

New Delhi, Aug 21(IANS) More and more trucks are now making it to Jammu and Kashmir carrying food and other essential commodities, the home ministry said Thursday.On Thursday, until 2 p.m., 970 trucks moved from Jammu to the Kashmir Valley. Of these, 343 transported foodgrain, 128 meat and 188 others fuel and petroleum products, the ministry said in a statement.

Similarly, 1,033 trucks went from Srinagar to Jammu. Of these, 437 carried fruits and 96 vegetables.

The home ministry statement follows allegations in the Kashmir Valley that there had been a blockade of the highway linking Jammu and Srinagar in the wake of the Amarnath shrine land row.
