Beijing, Dec 7 (IANS) A man in China created a scene after he climbed up a bridge in Guangdong province, walked around naked and claimed being a “Monkey King”, a character in the Chinese classic “Journey to the West.”

The mentally disturbed man paced up and down on the upper ridge of the bridge during morning rush hours Tuesday. Police closed the bridge and readied air cushions, causing serious traffic jams, the Shanghai Daily reported.

The ‘Monkey King’ refused to climb down as firemen approached him but kept bragging about his “supernatural powers”, the report said.

But one fireman outwitted him by pretending being Xuanzang, the monk who went on the journey to India for Buddhist sutras (chants) accompanied by Monkey King.

“I am your master and I want you to follow me,” the fireman stated.

On listening this, the naked man joined his palms and simply started following the fireman down the bridge.

The man was later sent to a hospital and the traffic was restored.
