Mohit clinches JK Junior Cup title

Chennai, April 24 (IANS) As expected, Mohit M. Aryan (Wallace Sports) swept the board and clinched the championship with 106 points in the JK Tyre Junior Cup series that concluded here Sunday.

Mohit, the 20-year old from Chennai and winner of all six races in the first weekend, completed a triple Sunday to finish the championship in style, ahead of team-mates Naveen Anbarasu (64 points) and Varun Nathwani (54).

Meanwhile, in the wake of a protest, Chetan Karoda (Wallace Sports), who had finished second in the championship, was excluded from the second weekend’s results for breach of technical regulations following the post-race scrutiny of his car.

The results (all eight laps):

Race 10: Mohit M. Aryan (Wallace Sports) 1 (10mins, 08.104secs); Varun Nathwani (Wallace Sports) 2 (10:11.854); Ashwin Ramachandran (Wallace Sports) 3 (10:29.042).

Race 11: Mohit M Aryan 1 (10:10.435); K Naveen (Ram’s Racing) 2 (10:17.519); Naveen Anbarasu (Wallace Sports) 3 (10:17.656).

Race 12: Mohit M Aryan 1 (10:11.215); Naveen Anbarasu 2 (10:13.993); Alisha Abdulla (Ram’s Racing) 3 (10:19.386).

Final Championship standings: Mohit M Aryan (Wallace Sports) 1 (106 points); Naveen Anbarasu (Wallace Sports) 2 (64); Varun Nathwani (Wallace Sports) 3 (54).
