Ahmedabad, Feb 2 (IANS) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi Thursday attacked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh after the Supreme Court verdict quashing 122 licences for mobile phone services and said people of the country were asking whether the prime minister should remain in office.
Addressing a sadbhavna fast meeting, Modi referred to the Comptroller and Auditor General’s estimate of Rs.1.76 lakh crore revenue loss to the exchequer due to 2G spectrum allocation and said the money could have been used to serve the poor.
“All the money was taken by a handful of people. Today the court has found the allegations as true,” Modi alleged.
He said Congress had come out to save Home Minister P. Chidambaram following the apex court verdict.
“The suspicion is that it is not to save Chidambaram but people who are behind this… they may not come in the focus,” Modi said.
Modi said people were asking the prime minister if he had the right to continue in office after the court verdict.
