New Delhi, Sep 6 (IANS) An earthquake of moderate intensity, measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale, shook north India Saturday morning. No loss of life or property was reported.”The quake occurred at 11.18 a.m. and its epicentre was located in the Hindukush mountain region of Afghanistan,” an official at Indian Meteorological Department told IANS.
The tremors lasted for 7-8 seconds and were felt in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and adjoining region, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand, the official said.
“There are no reports of any damage or loss of life from any part of the country now,” the official said.
Incidentally Friday, a moderate-intensity quake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale had struck Jammu and Kashmir.
“The tremors were largely felt in Jammu and Kashmir while in the northern plane the effect was mild,” an official had said.
