Moderate quake hits Himachal Pradesh

Shimla, Oct 22 (IANS) An earthquake of moderate intensity rocked some parts of Himachal Pradesh, an official said Wednesday.”A quake hit certain pockets in Mandi district Tuesday night. The intensity of the tremors was more in Kamru Nag valley,” deputy chief engineer of the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) C.L. Gupta told IANS.

The BBMB has an observatory at Sundernagar town in Mandi district.

“Our observatory recorded the quake intensity at 5.3 on the Richter scale. The tremors were recorded for a few seconds,” Gupta added.

There were no reports of loss of life or property.
